Hand Rearing And Cleft Palate Care
Hand rearing is a huge commitment and in most cases the baby requires full removal from the mother.
There are many reasons why we may need to intervene with the care of baby animals, such as:
Newborn animals are very fragile and problems can develop quickly due to their high reliance on their mother for warmth and nutrition. There are several critical problems that can be life threatening: Hypothermia (low body temperature) Dehydration (lack of fluid) Hypoglycaemia (low blood sugar).
Frequent observation and prompt intervention is key here and with my experience I can offer a premium service by veterinary referral to care for and quickly identify any deterioration, therefore reducing mortality.
I will provide dedicated 1 to 1 care, warming aids, formula milk, bottles, syringes, stomach tubes, regular feeding (2-4 hourly depending on age, size etc), winding/burping, toileting assistance, cleaning, sterilising, blood glucose monitoring, aspiration monitoring, weight monitoring, health monitoring, weaning (at around 4-6 weeks of age), socialisation, veterinary visits and client communication. You can find copies of my formal qualifications and insurance on our FAQ's page. I also carry a valid DBS check.
