DENTAL CLINIC

Dental Clinic (Cats and Dogs)

Dental disease is the most common problem suffered by adult dogs and cats and is totally preventable. My role as a preventative healthcare nurse is to provide educational information around oral health and home care/hygiene. I do not offer ultrasonic scaling or polishing of the teeth as I believe the procedure can only fully and humanely be achieved under a general anaesthetic at your veterinary practice.

I am a qualified oral health care nurse recognised by the BVNA. I can give you advice on home care, brushing and alternatives. Sometimes your pet may require professional dental care at your vets and I can inform you if this is needed.

During the clinic I will:

Grade your pet’s dental health.

Advise you on effective dental diets and chews.

Brush your pets’ teeth using an enzymatic toothpaste.

Demonstrate and teach dental home care and advise you on antimicrobial procedures and products.

Encourage habitual handling of the mouth and gums to desensitise your pet to oral exams and home dental care.

Identify if ultrasonic scaling or veterinary treatment is required.

Refer you to your vet if I have any concerns regarding your pets oral health such as lumps, tooth decay, resorptive lesions or fractured teeth.

You can find copies of my formal qualifications and insurance on our FAQ's page. I also carry a valid DBS check.
